Join renowned botanist and botanical illustrator Linda Ann Vorobik, PhD, for a 2-day hands-on workshop exploring the art and science of botanical illustration. Participants will enjoy what Linda calls “long dates with plants,” spending focused time observing, drawing, and painting plant material from the Tilden Regional Park Botanic Garden.
This is a 2-day (Saturday and Sunday) course, 9:30am - 4:30pm. Advanced registration is required.
Through guided observation and drawing techniques, participants will learn methods used to accurately depict plant structure and form. Beginners are welcome and will be supported in getting started, while more experienced artists will receive guidance to refine their skills.
Participants are encouraged to bring any drawing or painting supplies they already have. Before purchasing new materials and for the pre-workshop lesson on supplies, see her blog here: Botanical Art Supply List. The overall supply list for botanical art can be found here: recommended supply list. Linda will be able to supplement some supplies as needed during the workshop.
Linda Ann Vorobik was the Principal Illustrator for the Jepson Manual and brings a rare blend of scientific expertise and artistic practice to her teaching.
