Echo Azure

Echo Azure (Celastrina echo) is a small butterfly, with a wingspan of 0.75 – 1.25 inches. It can be seen in our local area from March to June. Numbers peak in June, but are also high in March. Females typically lay eggs on the flower buds of host plants, which include Ceanothus, California Buckeye (Aesculus californica), Dogwood (Cornus), and Blackberries (Rubus).

It is found in a wide belt along the west coast from British Columbia to Baja California.
