Bird Walks

The Golden Gate Bird Alliance occasionally conducts bird walks in the Garden. To search and register for walks, go to GGBA Field Trips.

Bird Survey

Botanic Garden docents have been surveying birds in the Garden for many years. Their observations are summarized in this Botanic Garden Checklist of 90 bird species seen in the Garden, which includes nesting species, monthly sighting frequency, and habitat prevalence.

Bird Plant Use

There is an Excel spreadsheet of birds’ plant use in the Garden. You can download the spreadsheet and sort the data by relevant terms, which can help with projects such as:

Turkeys

Recently the wild turkeys resident in Tilden Park have been entering the Garden. Since we would like to keep them out of the Garden we have been keeping the front gate closed unless the Garden Greeter table is staffed. Please make sure to close the gate after you enter and exit the Garden.
