Valley Foothill -The Valley-Foothill section features the flora of California’s great central valley that runs from near Redding in the North to Bakersfield in the south and of the foothills that rise up on both sides of this valley. California pipevine drapes over several small trees and shrubs with its curious pipe-shaped blossoms in the early spring. A little later you might discover the large black and orange caterpillars of the pipevine swallowtail butterfly feeding on its leaves.
