COVID-19 Rules for the Botanic Garden

Regional Parks Botanic Garden COVID-19 Rules

  1. All visitors must wear a face mask at all times while visiting the Botanic Garden.
  2. Reservation holder must present an ID (if asked) at the Front Gate.
  3. The Botanic Garden’s service gate on Anza View Road is closed until further notice. All entry and exit to the Botanic Garden is through the main gate on Wildcat Canyon Road.
  4. There are no restrooms, drinking fountains, or trash and recycling containers present in the Botanic Garden, these services are provided in the Botanic Garden parking lot (Camp Oaks). Be sure to use your home facilities before your visit to the Botanic Garden. The Botanic Garden Visitor Center building and all offices are closed to all visitors until further notice.
  5. Stay off closed paths and stay out of closed areas. These areas will be reopened to visitors when it is safe to do so. Temporary path closures may be in place due to staff working in that area at a particular time – please come back later! Here is a map of paths and areas currently closed.
  6. No Pets are allowed in the Garden.
  7. No picnicking, sitting, sunbathing, lounging, or loitering in one place is allowed at this time. Visitors should always be moving about with brief purposeful stops.
  8. When meeting another visitor that is traveling toward you on one of our many narrow (one-person-wide) paths, the person closest to an intersection needs to back-up to that intersection so that the other person can safely pass with a minimum of six feet of social distancing. Always stay on the paths – do not, under any circumstances, step into garden beds (even if you think nothing is there) or onto rocks and boulders (as these have mosses, lichens, and other lifeforms on them).
  9. Uniformed Botanic Garden and Park District staff and their vehicles are working to keep the Botanic Garden open, safe, and beautiful, and always have the right-of-way on all paths. Please be sure to give them a minimum of six feet of social distancing at all times.
  10. No picking flowers or collecting plants or plant parts is ever allowed. Please do not disturb or catch wildlife (water-life, newts, frogs, fish, bees, bugs, butterflies, birds, etc.) in the Botanic Garden or anywhere in our Regional Parks System.
  11. No running, no balls, no games (tag, hide-and-seek, etc.), no tree climbing. Please visit other areas in Tilden Regional Park to enjoy these activities.
  12. Always stay on the paths or lawns.
  13. No outside classes or groups at this time. No reservations will be taken.
  14. No weddings and no wedding photography at this time. No reservations will be taken.
  15. The Botanic Garden public visiting hours are from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM on Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Reservations for visits on these four days can be made by calling the Botanic Garden office staff at 510-544-3169 from Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

The Botanic Garden is closed on these holidays: January 1, Thanksgiving Day, and December 25.
